May in the Meadow

Marion Owen, John May and Cliff Marshall under the new shelter

The new shelter proved its worth on Friday when Caldecott Meadow was officially declared open by John May of Abingdon Vespers Rotary,  one of the main sponsors, seen here with Marion Owen (left) and Cliff Marshall (right).

The children had enjoyed a mini-beast hunt in the meadow earlier in the day,  but rain all afternoon meant the maypole dancing had to be done in the school hall.

Over 30 parents came to walk around at the end of the day. They loved the site and they were envisaging it in a few years time. One gran thought the oak tree would be magnificent in 40 years time. From a barren area to a great resource in a year is some achievement
