Wildflower Meadow, Autumn 2021

Half a dozen ACC volunteers created a timeless scene as they helped Carbon Cutter Lucille Savin rake the hay from part of the Wildflower Maze today, while others picked seed heads of wild flowers to seed a planned new verge in Oxford Road.

The idea of making hay now is to reduce the fertility of the soil and to allow the seeds to reach the soil. This will encourage more wildflowers to come back naturally next year.
