Edible Abingdon visits

23 July 2017 by Sally

On 19th July the kiosk beds and the new Edible Abingdon beds in Abbey Gardens had two sets of visitors in one day!

First came the 30th Abingdon Beaver Scouts on their end-of-term visit. They are a lively, interested bunch, and it turns out many of them already grow their own pumpkins, sunflowers and more. They enjoyed tasting the herbs and even the edible marigold petals!

Then after our AGM at St Ethelwolds House, some of us made a leisurely tour of the same beds.. and picked ourselves some rhubarb and chard.

Councillor Sam Bowring with the rhubarb..

Night was falling by the time we got to the Old Station House beds…
They knew all about bees and their importance in pollination too….
