Raking the Wildflower Maze

30 November 201630 November 2016 by Sally

A stalwart band of people ranging in age from OAP to neonate, turned out on Sunday to help Lucille clear away the grass-mowings from the wildflower maze on Abbey Meadow. This is necessary to reduce the fertility of the soil, thus giving the wildflowers more chance to compete with the grass.

Watch out for a bumper showing of flowers in 2017.  Next year the Green Gym may scythe the meadow instead.

Is this the youngest volunteer ever?
