The Education Group aims to support schools in achieving eco-school status and other eco goals by working with local schools on a variety of programmes including developing vegetable patches in school grounds.

We have been working with children of all ages in cooperation with various schools through:

  • Cookery sessions
  • Developing gardening skills
  • Supporting school eco-projects
  • Helping with Eco-clubs

We were involved with a project with Larkmead School, in which priorities were decided by the children. They learned how to grow vegetables and held a fashion show using recycled fabrics. We are now helping with an extension of the gardening project. A wheel chair accessible raised bed garden has been installed and growing activities have become part of the curriculum for some pupils.

We now hope to develop this work with other secondary and primary schools.
