Apple pressing in the Community Shop!

Autumn is here! And with it the familiar sight of lawns strewn with unloved apples. Once again our apple-pressing kit will be working flat out in the Community Shop turning windfall apples (or pears!) into delicious juice.

You can just come down with your apples and bottles and take your turn at the press, or you can book ahead for a slot (especially if you have huge numbers of apples) by email to state preferred date and time between 10 and 3 (we need to close the shop by 4). The juicing process takes about 1/2 hour for half a dozen bottles, and 2 kilos apples make 1 litre of juice. You can also hire the press to use at home, more details here

And if you are in town anyway, do call in and have a free sample, take a bottle home for a donation, and find out more about what else Abingdon Carbon Cutters get up to. We will have lots of information about Abingdon Hydro, the hydroelectricity scheme due to be installed next to Abingdon lock next Summer, and pictures of our Wildflower Meadow, Bee-friendly flower beds and Edible Abingdon vegetable beds. Come and take a look!
